Persian Kardaka Hoplite – Wielding a scythe-like weapon from an earlier age, suggesting an ancient warrior lineage, this Persian Hoplite has just survived a deadly strike from a Spartan Doria (spear) that pierced his shield but which failed to wound him. Waiting for his moment to pounce, he notices the Spartan youth turn his head, and in that second he jumps onto the shield of Dienekes hoping to reach and strike the unarmored Helot, whose grip is preventing the transport and possession of the greatest battle spoil imaginable – the corpse of the indomitable Spartan King.
