Saka Haumavarga Horse-Archer – The Saka units of the 5th century Perisan army were feared throughout Asia Minor.  However, famously, Thermopylae’s narrow pass wouldn’t allow these mounted archers the space to function properly, forcing them to dismount in order to participate on the front lines.  In the composition, this Saka Archer displays incredible bravery and combat acumen, approaching the skirmish close behind a Persian Hoplite (Hoplites get their name for the large shield with which they are equipped).  Observing the same gap in the Spartan defense as the Hoplite he’s following, this Archer draws and aims at a lethal range for the Spartan Hoplite best defending the prized corpse.
