"Death to Aboshi"
Based on one of the greatest animated features of all time, Studio Ghibli's classic "Princess Mononoke", here I depict the former Princess many years after the events of the film. In the wake of her mother's death, she is now the reigning Forest God, still intent on defending the land from the industry of Iron Town. Here the Queen sits, astride her full-grown brother, formulating the strategy that will finally crush Lady Aboshi's head in her brother's jaws.
On a personal author's note: My wife was the model for the Queen and the entire composition is a disguised, fantasy-based family portrait.
